Freaky Friday - Parking

In Chicago, when the snow accumulates, it reduces the number of parking spaces. Parking is already at a premium as it is. So, to ensure your spot is there when you return, this is the sort of thing people put out on the streets...

Fortunately, we have covered parking at home and at J's work.

That's just bizarre. Do they actually have a right to do that as residents or whatever?

I remember that when we were there. When it is warmer they stand guard outside too. That is so crazy. Also why I can not be a city girl because it would be worth getting into a fight. First come, first serve.

Jen - It happens all over the city. In the best and worst parts of town. People seem to respect each other's dibs. Perhaps because they are neighbors. I don't think the city cares to mess with it. New York has actual parking garages people can use. I don't think we have that so much.

FaithChick - I remember that!! I guess parking is at a super premium in Chinatown ALL YEAR! I am not aware of this happening in any other part of town all year round.

If that were San Francisco, homeless people would be picking up the stuff to use as firewood.

It's actually kind of nice that people respect eachother's space. Must be frustrating if you're looking for one though.

Necessity as they say......

Interesting that people respect it, though.
