Bikes Held Hostage

There was a bit of drama surrounding our kids' bikes...

The kids' bikes were held hostage in our locker room because I lost the combination to the bike locks. For a year and a half...

Anyway, we needed bolt cutters. No one in had a pair - well, I'm sure Home Depot does.

A couple of Fridays ago, I asked a new co-worker is married to a fireman if her husband might have bolt cutters in his trunk. No such luck but he hooked me up with our local fire station. A fireman came over and rescued the bikes from their locks!

We had a great family time.

Family Friday - Snowflakes!

We had a family snowflake making time.
It resulted in a LOT of tears, a TON of animosity
and just plain jealousy.

Motor Mouth started BAWLING when he saw J's.
I fully get what he was feeling.

Motor Mouth's...

Do you see the Eifel Tower?
And fleur de lis?

Or the dinosaur hiding behind the tree?
And what about the hearts?

Michigan Ave Lights On Parade & Fireworks

On Saturday, we bundled up warm and took the El down to Michigan Ave to see the Michigan Avenue Lights On Parade.

Waiting for the parade to start

My J

Gotta let our little light shine!
God Bless Jesse!!!!!
This kind stranger held Mini Me on his shoulders for most of the parade. I have a whole new appreciation for men. I was in so much pain holding her on my shoulders!
At Chicago River for fireworks!
Motor Mouth is the littlest one
We were right next to Trump Tower
during fireworks - which were awesome!

Halloween Excursion 2008

We had a fun halloween!!
It was the first year the kids went 'Trick or Treating'.
In the past, we went to the 'Hallelujah Night' games and activities our church in Tulsa held.
Our Chicago church doesn't do that.

The last time I had this much fun on Halloween was when The Mommy Project and our Crew were doing our thing, back in the day.

We set out to Trick or Treat in our neighborhood.
But got sidetracked...

Pirate Girl and Iron Man
Getting ready to go out
How much is that doggy in the window...?
In our neighborhood, store owners give out the candy.
Check out the crowd of Trick-or-Treaters!!
We walked up to the El station & hopped a train
These are stairs at the station. Artsy!!
On the El train, on the way to 'The Loop'
Found a Garrett's Popcorn!!
(Daddy blow dried Mini Me's hair @home)
Stopped at Daley Plaza and caught
a Halloween Event
Whole lot of flame throwing going on!
Motor Mouth as Iron Man
Sliding down some structure at Daley Plaza
Stopped by Old Navy to use their facilities
Millenium Park is getting the
outdoor skating rink ready!!
A view of Chicago through 'The Bean'
Sears Tower is lit orange on top
Snapped this pic right before we saw...
a Pagan minister, bride and groom
Walked by Grant Park where the
Obama Watch Party will be held
The media vans have already staked their spots

Oooops!! Sorry CBS
We heard loud bangs and turned to see
the Navy Pier Fireworks
Mini Me looked more like a Pirate Cheerleader
when she took off the extra gear
Flirting with a guy on the El ride home
Walking home, Daddy was given a pirate hat...
Hmmm...
Motor Mouth BEGGED us to put up decorations
This was the first time I've ever had
Halloween decorations in my home.

A GHOST on our balcony!!
And a Jack-o-Lantern inside!
We had an awesome time. And slept well!

Family Friday - 08/15/08

We had a BLAST at the Chicago Air Show last Friday. It was, by far, the best air show we've been to. The only thing that would have made it perfect was if my dear friend, James, and her M clan were there.

We took Grandpa & Grandma to Rockstar Hotdogs for lunch
We parked on North Ave and walked to the North Avenue Beach. It was a beautiful day and there were a few dozen people headed in the same direction we were. Because it was the first day of the air show, we thought the beach would be over run with people. But it wasn't.
Motor Mouth had a great vantage point
The Blue Angels rocked the show!
Like any true pilot, Motor Mouth likes to fly DURING the show

We had ice cream
Having the air show on the beach was great!
When the kids got bored and during the intermission, they played in the water.
