One week ago tonight, I drove away from the place I called 'home' for almost 7 years. It was the very first home Jason and I had ever purchased. It was the home with a backyard and neighborhood with sidewalks, representing stability and security that I had wanted to give to our future children. It was where we cried when we learned we could not have those children. It was where we eventually brought our children home from the hospital. It was the house we struggled to keep in tough financial times, and wanted to discard in great financial times. It's the house we had birthday parties and welcomed friends and family.
But it was just a house. Our home is in our hearts and in our memories.
