Costumes - $100

Time Spent Trick or Treating - 5 minutes
Because it was kinda cold, J convinced the kids to let us just take them to his boss' house to Trick or Treat then we went and bought a few bags of candy for them at the store.

We spent the evening watching The Last Action Hero as a family and eating the Kitkat minis that only one little duo of trick-or-treaters showed up for...
Boy, MM and mm look cute, though! Take more pics!
Also, if for some reason you think it won't be useful to keep the costumes, you might be able to donate them to a local children's theater company and get a tax write-off.
The funny thing is in my mind the costumes are for so much more that trick or treating. Our kids love to dress up in costumes all year long. They play out side on our balcony with them on and run up and down the hallways. On the 4th of July a very drunk neighbor told us how much fun it was to see them playing in costume, but admitted the first time he saw Mickey Mouse run past his window it did freak him out a bit. I love that my kids love to live in the world of dress up and make believe- it keeps me young.
Found your blog kind of randomly, and am so impressed by your kids' costumes... especially the Captain Hook get-up-- it looks fabulous!
And kudos for even *attempting* trick-or-treating in Chi-Town... I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and there were too many years with snow on the ground when I just stayed indoors!
